Creativity Workshop
Creativity is one of our greatest gifts. It is a sixth sense that we all have - we just need to learn to tap into it and trust it. (MK)
The creativity workshop encourages patients to spend their leisure time creatively. Hidden talents, hobbies and skills can be (re-) discovered. And there are virtually no limits to creativity and how ideas can be realised. With the support of activity therapists, patients can use materials such as wood, soap stone, clay, porcelain, felt, silk and many others to make tasteful clocks, colourful silk scarves, sculptures and decorative items of jewellery.
Activity Group for Women and Men
The best way to discover something new is to become active. (MK)
In a stimulating atmosphere and with expert guidance the patients in the activity group work together in small groups to produce work-pieces. This activity takes place in the workshop two to three times a week at set times and promotes concentration and dexterity. Items of seasonal craftwork such as Christmas or Easter decorations are made, small articles for everyday use such as tool holders, nut crackers or flower pots are designed and mirrors decorated with mosaic stones.
Art therapy
Art is something ineffable. (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe)
By visualising a variety of topics patients are able to stimulate their imagination and access hidden parts of their personality that are hard to open up verbally. In a relaxed atmosphere, feelings are transferred to paper or canvas with the help of a paint and brush.
Evening Creativity Courses
Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. (Pablo Picasso)
The free evening creativity course provides an opportunity to experiment with clay or paint, try out new techniques and thus explore material, form and colour. The main emphasis is upon experiencing the pleasure that can be gained from creativity. In this way, leisure time activities that offer meaning and pleasure can be discovered and creative activities integrated into the everyday routine.
Gardening Therapy
The foolish run, the clever wait, the wise go into the garden.
(Rabindranath Tagore)
The therapy garden at the Anton Proksch Institute offers an opportunity to combine physical activity in the fresh air with a meaningful experience of nature. With the support of a therapist, small groups of patients design, plant and care for flower, herbal and vegetable gardens. The tasting and use of the self-grown garden products increases their ability to find pleasure and encourages healthy eating habits with plenty of vitamins. According to seasonal rhythms, patients work with natural materials all year round thus enhancing their own quality of life through a strong relationship to nature.
